Despite numerous campaigns about the ecological damage caused by immersing Ganpati idols in coastal waters, Mumbaikars aren’t making the shift from awareness to action, environmentalists complain.
Instead of more eco-friendly clay, Mumbaikars continue to prefer idols made of plaster-of-paris, a toxic, nonbiodegradable substance.
